Selling Out

After students (who saw an exhibition of my work across the country) queried about purchasing panels from my Recent Activity project (which are outside their student budgets), I began thinking about the accessibility of art and its literal place in the world. The result: translating selections from Recent Activity into t-shirts, available for purchase here.

I considered attaching a promised charitable contribution to each t-shirt sale, but decided against it for several reasons: 1) a portion of my income is ALWAYS donated to a variety of left-leaning causes, arts organizations, and support for families with critically ill children; as my income goes up, so does my charitable giving, 2) I’m not sure it makes sense conceptually to attach actual action to this project that is ultimately about inaction, and 3) I don’t want to mess with complicated accounting. Seriously.

Each shirt is translated directly from an original panel, with the text reflecting the original hand-cut lettering (rather than being replaced by digitally-generated text), and colors are as closely matched to the original as possible. Orders are processed every three days and standard shipping is 9 to 12 days, so orders can be expected to arrive about 2 weeks after being placed. Shirts can be ordered at TeeSpring.

The first "Recent Activity" panel translated into t-shirt form! I cut off the hems to mimic the raw edges of the original even more closely.
